Projects

Here is a brief description of some of the main projects we have worked on:

Design and development of an analog measurements instrument for an electrochemical biosensor application using a PC parallel port to control the instrument measurement sequences.

Design and development of a fail-safe gas flame sensor and solenoid valve switching mechanism that was interfaced to an embedded microcontroller.

High speed (sub-nano edges) signal integrity analysis of a 10 GHz network analyser card. This project was a PCB design with FPGA to DDR SDRAM interfaces with a PHY laser module up to 700 MHz using LVDS and SSTL signalling. We created and verified IBIS models for use in PCB environment simulations. SPICE analog simulations of reflections were used to evaluate the PCB track termination scheme effectiveness.

Analog signal processing project for active filters, timing circuits and digital circuitry for military applications in weapons guidance and proximity fuzing.

Highly optimised embedded assembler code for a guided diagnostic probe for a functional digital tester. This used digital signature storage and analysis techniques to trace from faulty circuit outputs back to the faulty device on the PCB under test.

Design of a high speed (266 MHz+) SDRAM padlogic interface for the core logic of an embedded microprocessor. This project required analysis of the read/write pipeline path w.r.t. clock alignment. We developed SPICE models for Pads, packages (BGA & TQFP), PCB tracks and SDRAM. Also VHDL models were written for synthesis and testbenches for verification of DLL clock distribution management.

Design of embedded microcontroller circuitry and software for a mass produced portable measurement instrument with interfacing of A to D for an analog probe sensor and an LCD results display.

Analog design, simulation and analysis of full custom analog blocks (0.25 micron CMOS) for a graphics display processor ASIC. The design work involved development of SPICE test suites for the analog silicon blocks which were PLLs for on-chip clock synthesis and clock-tree alignment, Pads for PCI/AGP 4X signalling system, and a Video-DAC for 10-bit composite video signal with pixel rate of 500 MHz.

Various projects for the Automotive, Military and Aerospace industry involving radiation hardened designs of up to 400K gates. Activities included logic synthesis, timing analysis, DRC, DFT, layout/routing, track delay extraction and simulation sign off.
